Bonnie Derkatz-Olson
Bonnie was elected to Cornerstone Credit Union's Board in 2012. She is a member of the Governance Committee and Chair of the Conduct Review Committee.

Bonnie retired from her teaching career in 2007. She is presently employed part-time at the Beeland Co-op in Tisdale.

She has taken an active role in her community, serving on the Tisdale Library Board, Christ Lutheran Church Council and Provincial Lutheran Synod, the Tisdale Adult Drama Group, "Relay for Life", a founding member of the Tisdale Arts Council as well as in various other community volunteer capacities.

Bonnie is a Group Leader and Organizer of student and adult Europe tours as well as a teacher/monitor for "Encounters with Canada" - a student leadership/citizenship program in Ottawa.

Bonnie and her husband, Dwight Olson, have two children.

James Knudson

Vice President
James, a Board member since 2001, currently serves as the Vice President of Cornerstone Credit Union's Board of Directors. Throughout his tenure, he has served on numerous committees, and is presently a member of the Audit & Risk Committee.

James and his wife, Leanne, and twins, Justin and Miranda, live on a farm just outside of Archerwill. He farms in a successful five-man partnership, raising grains, oilseeds, commercial and purebred cattle. James has dedicated his time serving on various local, provincial, and national boards. He has coached his children's hockey teams, and is currently coaching school curling teams.

Leanne joined the board in 2017 and is currently a member of the Governance committee.  Leanne is the Owner/Operator of Tisdale Dental Hygiene Clinic.  Leanne and her husband also own rental property and have a cattle, produce and grain farm.  Leanne is currently active on the Canadian and Saskatchewan Dental Hygiene Association boards.  She is a community oriented person who feels strongly about cooperatives.  She appreciated that they look at the community and give back.

District Two - Wynyard, Kelliher, Ituna

 

Harold Sigfusson

Harold has been a member of the Board of Directors for over 24 years, serving on the Board of Wynyard Credit Union prior to the amalgamation with Cornerstone Credit Union. He currently serves on the Audit & Risk Committee.

Harold received his Bachelor of Education degree, and spent 31 years teaching, 27 of those in Wynyard. Harold retired from teaching in 2003. He and his wife, Sandy, operate a farm north of Wynyard.

Harold's roots are from Wynyard, and he is extremely interested in keeping Wynyard a vibrant and successful community.


District Three - Yorkton, Theodore, Saltcoats

Cheryl has served on the Board of Cornerstone Credit Union since 2005, and is currently a member of the Audit and Risk Committee. She was Chair of the Governance Committee for eight years. Cheryl brings a great deal of Board and organizational experience, having served on many local, provincial, and national Boards. Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

Along with her husband, Allan, she has owned and operated Yorkton Aircraft Service Ltd. for the past 25 years. She was raised on the family farm at Jedburgh, has lived in Yorkton for over 30 years, and has raised two sons.

Cornerstone Credit Union has been Cheryl's financial institution of choice. "This Credit Union provides me with great customer service, has helped my business and my family and as importantly it gives back to the members and communities it serves. It’s a dynamic and progressive organization focused on the local member. I take pride in being a Director on such a member-focused Board” comments Cheryl.

Larry Malinowski

Larry currently serves as the President on the Cornerstone Board of Directors. He served as Director and President for Theodore Credit Union prior to being appointed to the Board of Cornerstone in 2005. Larry is a lifelong supporter, demonstrating leadership on these Credit Union Boards for over 40 years.

Larry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, and was employed at many positions in the agricultural extension field. He and his wife, LuAnne, are retired from the grain farm operation near Theodore, and now reside in Yorkton. They have two married children and four granddaughters.

Larry has also demonstrated his support for community through his involvement with a number of local organizations including the RM of Insinger, Theodore Hospital Board, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Agricore United, Yorkton Co-operative Association and the Board of Directors of Yorkton Agricultural Information Inc. for 20 years.

Jack Powell

Executive Director
Jack has served on the Board of Cornerstone Credit Union for the past 19 years. Jack is an Executive Director and currently serves on the Audit and Risk Committee. He is committed to the growth and financial strength of Cornerstone Credit Union and its members.

Jack owned and operated Powell Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd, located in Ebenezer for 35 years. In October 2003, Jack sold his business to the Yorkton Co-operative Association. He now volunteers his time with the Yorkton Sno-Riders Snowmobile Club. Jack is an avid hunter, golfer and fisherman.

Jack and his wife, Carrie reside at Spiritwood Acres. He has been a member of Cornerstone Credit Union for over 20 years.

Nicole Campbell

Nicole Campbell joined the Cornerstone Credit Union Board of Directors in 2014. Nicole currently serves on the Governance and Conduct Review Committee. She is the owner of Yorkton Concrete 2012 Ltd. She is the third generation to own and operate the family business which is a redimix concrete and precast concrete manufacturing facility. Although she is only in her third year of ownership, she has been working at Yorkton Concrete for eight years. She started her position as a receptionist and she really enjoyed the work and the dynamics of the family business.

 Tom McIntyre
Tom McIntyre
Tom joined the board in 2017 and is currently a member of the Governance committee. Tom resides in Saltcoats where he has lived for the past 54 years.  Tom was the President/CEO of Thorsness Hardware until he retired in 2015.  The business is now run by his son Michael and his wife Krissa and Tom continues to be a director.  Tom has been very involved in the community of Saltcoats, having been mayor from 1982-1991, on the Saltcoats School Board from 1978-1985 (3 years as chairman) and Vice Chairman of the building committee for the Lakeside Manor Personal Care Home.

Lonnie Kaal
Lonnie Kaal
Lonnie joined the Board in 2012. Lonnie is the City Manager for the City of Yorkton and previously worked in the corporate banking industry for over a decade. Lonnie currently is the Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee. She brings a common sense business approach to budgeting and finance within the public sector and enjoys seeing people in the community flourish.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the U of S, Lonnie resided in various different places in Saskatchewan before settling back in Yorkton. The family farm is close to Yorkton, and her three children got to enjoy both country and city living as they grew up. Those first “fat cat” bank accounts are remembered even though all three children are now adults and attending college in Saskatoon.

Lonnie has served on various community organizations and boards and is the Past President of the Saskatchewan Government Officers Association and executive of the Western Canada GFOA. She appreciates working with people to try to make things better going forward.

Orest Shular
Orest Shular

Orest, who is a lifelong member at the Wynyard Branch of Cornerstone Credit Union, joined the Board in 2013. He serves on the Conduct Review Committee and is the Chair of the Governance Committee. He is committed to doing his part in advancing the fortunes of Cornerstone Credit Union.

Orest served on the Wynyard Credit Union Ltd. Board of Directors from 1979 to 2000 (as President) for 15 years. He enrolled in and completed the (12) Director Training Modules offered at that time.

Orest stepped out of that role for a time to raise his family, operate his farm and heavy equipment. He participates on numerous Committees, Boards, and Service Clubs with voluntary efforts in his community.

Edie
Edie Tarasoff

Edie joined the Board in 2018. She currently serves on the Governance and Conduct Review Committee. Edie has spent most of her life in rural Saskatchewan.  Her early interest in anything outdoors lead her to training in recreation and education. Edie and her husband have raised two children and worked in the Wynyard area. She retired in 2008 from a gratifying career of teaching.  Edie still does some subbing and teaches communications classes at the Regional College and Regina Library System.  She is currently the President of the Superannuated Teachers’ Association, Shamrock Chapter and secretary on the United Church Board.  She is also a member of the Community Theatre and the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary (Thrift store).

Edie was interested in becoming a member of the board for the following reasons: She wants rural Saskatchewan to have a secure, accountable financial system that understands the needs of the members.  She wants to ensure the Credit Unions of this region stays competitive, broadens services and attracts new members.
