Deposit Cheques in a SNAP!

Deposit Anywhere is a feature available on our mobile app for iPhone® and Android™ devices.

With Deposit Anywhere, you can quickly and securely deposit cheques with your smartphone or tablet, from anywhere, anytime. So whether you’re at coffee with friends, at work, or staying up late to get your banking done—any time is the right time to deposit cheques.

How does it work?

  1. Open the app on your smartphone
  2. Select your account and enter the amount
  3. Snap a photo of the front and back of your cheque
  4. Confirm the details and tap “submit”. That’s it.

Android users may experience issues using Deposit Anywhere on your mobile device. The app is overlaying the navigation bar and when you hit the 'camera' button to take the picture it's actually hitting the central navigation button (which minimizes the app). The recommended workaround is:

  • Go into Android Settings
  • Display
  • Navigation Bar
  • Change from Navigation Buttons to Full Screen Gestures

How do I get Deposit Anywhere™?
Deposit Anywhere™ is available within the Cornerstone Credit Union Mobile App.

Do I have to sign up to use Deposit Anywhere™?
No. Deposit Anywhere™ will be available on both the Apple and Android apps. If you have one of these apps you will automatically have access to this service and it does not require any additional steps to activate.

How do I use Deposit Anywhere™?
Depositing a cheque with Deposit Anywhere™ is easy. Open up our mobile banking app, tap the “deposit” button, select the account you’d like the funds deposited to, enter the amount, take a photo of the front and back of the cheque, confirm the details and tap “submit”. The funds will then be deposited securely into your account.

Are there any fees for using Deposit Anywhere™?
No. There are no fees to use this service.

What types of cheques can I draw on?
You can deposit cheques payable in Canadian dollars and drawn at any Canadian financial institution. They must be payable to, and endorsed by, the account holder.

Can cheques be deposited into any account?
Cheques can be deposited into a savings or a chequing account with the exception of Lawyer Trust accounts.

Can multiples cheques be deposited at once?
No, each cheque must be deposited separately.

Will my deposited cheque show up immediately in my account and can I use the funds immediately?
Yes. The deposit shows up immediately in your account, however, there may be a hold on the deposit for up to four days. Please contact your branch or call 1-855-875-2255 to review your account holds.

Is there a deposit limit per cheque or a maximum number of cheques that can be deposited per day?
There is a default limit of $5,000 per cheque deposit; however if that limit does not meet your needs, please contact your branch or call 1-855-875-2255. Only one cheque can be deposited at a time; however there are no limits to the number of cheques that are deposited per day.

How will I know if there is an issue with my deposit after I submit the cheque?
In the rare circumstance that there is an issue with the deposit after you receive confirmation during the deposit, you will be contacted by us.

Is depositing cheques with a mobile phone safe?
Yes. As a feature of our mobile banking app, Deposit Anywhere™ meets the same high standards as our mobile and online banking services.

Do I have to mail in the cheques afterwards?
No. Once you have submitted the cheques using Deposit Anywhere™, you do not need to send the cheques to the branch.

What do I do with paper cheques after they have been deposited?
You are required to retain deposited cheques for a period of 90 days once deposited. As soon as a cheque is deposited, it is important to mark the cheque ‘deposited via mobile’ on the face of the cheque (without obscuring any material information on the cheque). After the 90 day retention period, cheques should be destroyed by marking them VOID or shredding them.

Mobile web offers the same functionality as MemberDirect online banking, but is optimized for the smaller screen size on mobile phones.  With Mobile web you can:

  • view account balances and history
  • pay bills
  • transfer funds
  • find a branch/ATM

How do I sign up?
To sign up for Mobile Web, all you need is access to online banking.  Don't have it?  Contact your branch to sign up today!

If you are already a MemberDirect online banking user, simply go to from your smart phone browser.  At the top of the screen you will see a banner link that says Mobile optimized version of this site - click on that link and you will be directed to Mobile Web.  To login to your account information using mobile web, you will log in with your card number and PAC, just as you would for online banking.
