Interac e-Transfer for Business


Beginning May 13, you will be able to receive e-Transfer payments directly to an account number without needing an email or phone number.  

Improvements:

  • Receive payments directly to an account number.
    Payments can be sent straight to your account number, without needing an email or phone number provided. 
  • Get more information about payments.
    Receive detailed remittance information from people who send you money (as long as their financial institution has “send” functionality enabled), making it easier to track and reconcile payments.
  • Available for all members.
    These enhancements are available for all members – including personal and business accounts.
    What to prepare for: 

    With the enhancement, there will be a delay in refunds for any potential declined, cancelled, or auto-reclaimed transactions made prior to May 13. This does not mean you will not receive these refunds; it may just take a little longer than what you are used to.

    And don’t worry, nothing changes about how you send or receive regular e-Transfers. Everything you do today works exactly the same. You’ll only notice these new features when someone sends you money from a financial institution that supports them. 

      Auto deposit and account number deposits now occur in 1.5 seconds, making the speed of Interac e-Transfers even faster.

      The "send" capability that allows you to send remittance data will be enabled in a future release. Release 4.4 contains the “receive” functionality, allowing you to receive remittance data only.
